what is the action of conc.sulphuric acid on sulphur

Kumaraswami Sathiavasan, MSc in Chemistry & IAS officer(retd.) A redox reaction takes place between the two substances, forming sulphurdioxide and water. Sulphur is oxidised to sulphur dioxide by hot and concentrated sulphuric acid, and the acid also gets reduced to the same product (sulphur oxide) by sulphur.
