Glucose on treatment with dil.HNO3 gives gluconic acid.

● Explaination -

When glucose is treated with strong oxidizing agent like HNO3, it gets oxidised to gluconic acid which is a dicarboxylic acid.

CHO-(CHOH)4-CH2OH + 2 [O] --> COOH-(CHOH)4-CHO + H2O

COOH-(CHOH)4-CHO + [O] --> COOH-(CHOH)4-COOH
