Solution:
When an acid reacts with a metal hydrogen carbonates then a salt, carbon dioxide gas and water are formed.

Metal hydrogen carbonate + acid -----> salt + carbon dioxide + water

For example:
When dilute hydrochloric acid reacts with sodium hydrogen carbonate than sodium chloride, carbon dioxide and water are formed.

NaHCO3 (s)+ HCl (aq) -----> NaCl(aq) + CO2(g) + H2O(l)
