What is the active and reactive gyroscopic couple?

If the disk wasn't rotating it would have been pulled down , as it is being supported on only one side and gravity is generating a couple about it. But if you give the disk enough spin then it won't fall about the supported point ,rather it will start to precess in a horizontal plane .
