The bases are used for the purpose of production of soaps and detergents
Calcium hydroxide is used for production of the bleaching agent.

The advantages of acid:

Concentrated Sulphuric acid is used as a drying agent.
Nitric acid is used in preparation of fertilizers.
Sulphuric acid is used in domestic drainage cleaner.
Sulphuric acid is used as an electrolyte in lead acid batteries.
