Endolymph and perilymph are the two fluids filling the spaces of the inner ear.

They are filled inside the compartments of cochlea. They help in transmission of sound waves to the hair cells. The sound waves are converted into nerve impulses inside the endolymph while perilymph transforms the sounds waves into endolymph.

In the inner part of an ear, there are two parts named as a bony labyrinth and a membranous labyrinth.

Many functions take place in the inner part of the ear using substance in the form of fluids.

The bony labyrinth space is filled with perilymph fluid surrounding the membranous labyrinth.

This perilymph fluid has high sodium and low potassium content. The level of sodium/potassium is balanced by its own pump (sodium/potassium pump).

Endolymph is the second fluid in the inner ear.

When the perilymph and endolymph fluids are kept balanced in inner ear, normal and balanced functioning takes place in the inner part of an ear.

The main advantage of this fluids in inner space is it helps in hearing function of the ear.
