Suez Canal was opened in1869,

1. Distance between India and Europe reduced by 7000 kms.

2. It was in favour of international trade and commerce with India also benefitting

3. The ocean routes from East and South-East Asia and Australia to Africa and Europe pass through Indian Ocean.
