There are mainly 3 pollutions. Air, Water, Soil. Upto some extent Noise is also a pollution. Analogies depend on pollutants and their sizes and effects they cause. Air pollutant like smoke, sulphur particles effects the air while sewage and oilspill effect the water. Land spoils and industrial waste and vermi composting effects the soil.
