Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

So here we will assume that 12:00 represents 0°.

Now,

60 minutes=360°

1 minute= 360°/60=6°

So, 1 minute will be 6°

Then 5 minutes will be= (6°)*5=30°

We have always noticed that the hour hand moves 5 minutes for each hour.

So now we calculate the speed of the hour clock.

So time taken to travel those 30°(which is the 5 minutes) is 1 hour=60 minutes

Distance travelled=30°

So, speed= distance travelled/ time taken=30°/60

=1/2 degrees per minute

So in 40 minutes it should travel= speed*time=(1/2)*40

=20°

So the hour hand makes 30°+20°=50° (as we ahve to include the 30° from 12:00 to 1:00) from 12:00

Now for the minute hand:

It is showing 40 minutes

Then in form of degrees:

40*6 (as 1 minute=6°)

=240°

So the minute hand makes an angle of 240 from 12:00

Now as we are measuring the angle anti clockwise we have to subtract 240° from 360° which is equal to 120°

So the required answer will be

120°+50°=170°

Hope this helps you and please mark it as the brainliest.

Cheers:)
