The whole point of having a constitution is to keep the government, especially the legislature/parliament, from doing whatever they please instead of honoring the rights of the people. In government without such a constitution, the people really have no rights under law, only privileges, because the government can pass any law they feel like, and the only protection the people have is the ability to revolt if the politicians get out of hand.
