(1) time interval for zero acceleration is 0-12 sec

(2) total displacement is 240 m

Explanation:

  • In given velocity- time graph  acceleration is given as slope of the graph and displacement is given as area under the curve

Given, 0-12 sec---------- velocity is 15 m/s (constant)

12-20 sec ----------------velocity reduces and become zero at 20 sec

(1)  Zero acceleration is from time 0 to 12 sec as velocity is constant so body cannot produce any acceleration

Acceleration is defined as rate of change of velocity

(2) Total Displacement of body it is given as area covered in velocity- time graph

Total area = Area of rectangle(from 0 to 12 sec) +Area of triangle(from 12 to 20 sec)

Displacement = length * breadth + \frac{1}{2}  * base * height

=> Displacement = 15* 12 + \frac{1}{2}   *(20-12) * 15

=> Displacement = 180 + 60

=> Displacement = 240 m
