Answer:

Explanation:

1.Well,I would like to answer it in brief. The Britishers were the colonial masters of the Indian Subcontinent and ruled it for almost 200 years. The colonial experiment began with the advent of the English East India Company in the 1600 s. They began trading activities in India and their sole purpose was profit. This continued till 1857.After the anti British Revolt(Revolt against the Company Raj) in 1857,the rule of the company came to an end and India was put under the direct control of the British Crown under Queen Victoria. However, the trading and commercial activities did take place post 1857.The British were mainly interested in getting the raw materials from India and products such as Indigo was one of them. They also encouraged Indian farmers to grow cash crops like tea, jute etc which was based on their profit motive. Indigo was a type of Indian dye and was in high demand in Britain at that time,so the British forced the Indian farmers to grow Indigo. Even there was a revolt against the Indigo Plantation known as the Indigo Revolt or Neel Vidroh.

2.the farmer hesitate to grow Indigo because it causes a severe damage to the land and the soil it may also stop the for the production of other crops

3.The color indigo is named after the indigo dye derived from the plant Indigofera tinctoria and related species. The first known recorded use of indigo as a color name in English was in 1289.

Britishers forces the Indian farmers to grow indigo because growing indigo had become profitable in backdrop of its high demand in Europe.

the Indian farmers hesitated to grow indigo

because once when indigo is grown in a land the soil loses it fertility.

And in the late time when India was independent the farmers where forced to grow indigo but don't get the appropriate wages as well as they even can't grow the crops of their choice.
