Answer:

The question is -2p-(-12p)

When - sign comes in front of a bracket, the sign of the number inside the bracket changes,

So,

-2p + 12p

Here p is common, lets take it out:-

p ( -2 + 12)

p (10) = 0

p = 10

  • \sf\:-2p-(-12p)

\large\sf\underline{Answer}

  • We can add or subtract these terms since they are like terms .

\sf\:-2p-(-12p)

\sf➞\:-2p+12p

\sf➞\:10p

\large\sf\underline{Know\:more}

  • "Like terms" are terms that contain the same variables raised to the same power.h

Important :

We can only add or subtract like terms.

Why ?

Think of it like this. On a table we have 4 pencils and 2 books. We cannot add the 4 pencils to the 2 books - they are not the same kind of object.

Similarly with algebra, we can only add (or subtract) similar "objects", or those with the same letter raised to the same power.

!! Hope it helps !!
