 by option verification:
let f(x)= x^2 -2
     then f( x + 1/x) =( x + 1/x)^2 - 2
                             = x^2 + 1/x^2 + 2(x)(1/x) - 2
                             = x^2 + 1/x^2 +2 - 2
              f(x + x/x)  = x^2 + 1/ x^2
hence verified that option c is correct
