\bf \red{ \underline{ \underline{Solution}}}

 - 30 = 5(x + 1)

 - 30 = 5x + 5

   5x =  - 30 - 5

   5x =  - 35

    x =  \frac{ - 35}{5}

  \pink {x =  - 7}

Knowledge enhancer:

  • Constant: A symbol which has a fixed numerical value is called a constant.

For e.g, 3,-6

  • Variable : A symbol which can take different numerical values in different situations is called a variable.

For e.g, x,y

  • Terms: The Various parts of an algebraic expression connected by + or - sign are called Terms.

For e.g,-3xy,4x+3y

\huge\underline\mathcal\purple{Solution :}

- 30 = 5(x + 1)

=> - 30 = 5x + 5

By transposing,

=> - 5x = 5 + 30

=> - 5x = 35

=> x = \dfrac{35}{- 5}

=> x = \dfrac{7}{- 1} = \dfrac{-7}{1}

=> x = - 7

\huge\underline\mathcal\purple{Verification :}

- 30 = 5(x + 1)

Putting the value of x

=> -30 = 5(-7 + 1)

=> -30 = 5(-6)

=> -30 = -30

Hence verified !!
