If we keep iron in a copper sulphate solution the blue colour of the solution will change into green colour. The colour changes because iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution as it is at a higher position in the reactivity series and hence is more reactive than copper.Copper will be left out as a reddish brown precipitate.

Fe +CuSO4-------->FeSO4+Cu.
