Given: PA and PB are tangents .

To prove : PL+ LM = PN + MN

Proof : AL = LM

BN = MN. - By theorem 10.2

We know that.,

PA=PB -By theorem 10.2

PL + AL = PN + BN

PL + LM = PN + MN ....(proved above)..

PA and PB are the tangent segment to the circle from an external point ,

therefore by tangent segment theorem,

PA=PB. ..... (1)

similarly ,

LA =ML. ......(2)

and

BN=MN. ......(3)

since PL + LA =PA ....[P-L-A ]

PN + NB=PB ....[P-N-B]

therefore , PL + ML = PN + MN .....from (1) and (2)
