By Pythagoras Theorem,

 first  side^{2}  + second  side ^{2} = hypotenuse^{2}

Now,Here,

Sides are :- 9 and 12

So,

9^{2} + 12^{2} = hypotenuse^{2}

81 + 144 = hypotenuse^{2}

225 =  hypotenuse^{2}

 \sqrt{225}  = hypotenuse

 \sqrt{15*15} = hypotenuse

15 = hypotenuse

Then,

length of hypotenuse is 15cm

i hope this will help you

One side = 9cm (a)
Other side= 12cm (b)

According to question, the formula applied will be:

(a)^{2}  + (b)^{2}  =  (c)^{2}
9^{2}  + 12^{2}    = (c)^{2}
81 + 144               =  c^{2}
 225                        =  c^{2}
225                       = c
15 cm                   =  c

Therefore, Hypotenuse is 15cm.
