Menstruation is the periodic discharge of blood and mucous tissue from the inner lining of the uterus through the vagina that occurs as part of woman's monthly cycle .Menstruation usually starts at the age of 11 and continues till menopause .
Every month a females body prepares for pregnancy .If no pregnancy occurs , the uterus or womb of a female sheds its lining and hence leads to bleeding which is known as menstruation . The menstruation stops from the day of pregnancy to the day of birth of the child in case of pregnant women .Remember every non-pregnant women above the age of 11 years menstruates once in a month till she reaches a menopause . Menstrual cycle is of 28 days .
