GMm / R^2 = m V^2 / R

V^2 = GM / R    1/2 m V2 = 1/2 GMm / R     initial KE

Initial PE = -GMm / R

Initial total energy Et = -GMm / (2 R)  = KE + PE

Et1 = -GM(m/2) / (2 * 3/2 R) = -GMm / (6R)

Et2 = -GM(m/2) / (2 * R/2) = -GMm / (2R)

Total energy after split = -2/3 GMm / R

Final - Initial = -2/3 GMm / ( R) +  GMm / (2)R =  -GMm / (6R)
