The approximate dry weight contained  by majority of herbaceous plant is around 10-15% of fresh weight.

Explanation:

• Herbaceous plants normally contain more than 90% of the water of their fresh weight. So their dry weight is about 10-15% of fresh weight. But some exception is also there.

60-90% of total water is located within the cell. And the rest of the water is located in the cell wall.

• Water is very essential for any plant growth. The primary function of water is the maintenance of cells, help in metabolic activity, transport solute, tissue turgor. It’s very important in photosynthesis and also for transpiration.

• The amount of water need by plant is different for different types of plants. Woody plants need less water than the herbaceous plant, they need approximately 50% water of their fresh weight. But herbaceous plants don’t contain persistent woody stem. So they contain more water than woody plants. And their dry weight is less.
