  • The radius of a nucleus varies with the atom it is present inside .
  • Usually the nuclear radii ranges from 1-10 *10^{-15}m. This radius is much smaller than that of the atom, which is typically 10-10 m. Thus, the nucleus occupies an extremely small volume inside the atom.
  • The radius of a nucleus is given by

                                     r = r_{0} A^{\frac{1}{3} } , where  r_{0} =1.2 fm

                                                                  A= mass number of the nucleus

Substituting the values for  r_{0} and A give us the radius of the nucleus .
