Answer:

90 sq. unit.

Step-by-step explanation:

First let us find area of big square of side ( 10 + 5 ) units = 15 unit.

Area of big square = 15² = 225 sq. unit.

Now finding area of big triangle of base 5 unit and height ( 5 + 10 ) = 15 unit.

Area of big triangle = 1 / 2 × 5 × 15 = 75 / 2 sq. unit.

Since there are 4 triangle :

Area of 4 big triangle = 4 × 75 / 2 = 150 sq. unit.

On subtracting area of big square to with area of big triangle we will not get correct answer.

We need to find area of 4 small triangle.

We will find area of 4 small triangle and subtract it from area of 4 big triangle.

After we will subtracting area of big square to with area of big triangle.

Now finding area of 4 small triangle!

The height of a right triangle of perpendicular sides p and q and

hypotenuse x , which is perpendicular to y , is,

x = p q  / y :

x = 1.5 unit

Area of small triangle = 4 × 1 / 2 × 1.5 × 5 sq. unit

Area of 4 small triangle = 15 sq. unit.

Now :

= > Area of 4 big triangle - Area of 4 small triangle

= > 150 - 15 = 135 sq. unit.

Finally :

Required answer = Area of big square - 135 sq. unit.

= >  Area of coloured square = 225 - 135 sq. unit

= > Area of coloured square = 90 sq. unit.

Therefore , we get required answer.
