Answer:

The Area of the shaded region is 4 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution:

Area of square = side x side

Here,

Lets take the small square with 1cm side,

Area = 1 x 1 = 1 cm^2
Here there are 12 small squares So,

Total area of figure = 12 x 1 = 12  cm^2

In the given figure,
4 Full shaded and 8 Half Shaded portions are there So,

The Area of the shaded region

                            = Total area - (4(area of square) + 8(area of square/2) )

                            = 12 - (4(1) + 8(1/2))

                            = 12 - (4 + 4)

                            = 12 - (8)

                            = 4 cm^2

The Area of the shaded region is 4 cm^2
