using pythagoreas theorom we get,

16^2 + 12^2 = x^2

256+144=x^2

400 = x^2

x = 20 cm -------(diameter of the semicircle) ===> radius = 10cm

area = 1/2 * 12 * 16

= 96 cm^2

area of the semicircle = 1/2 * 22/7 * 10 = 157.08 cm^2

therefore area of the shaded region = 157.08 - 96

= 61.08
