area of square = l²
= 1 × 1 cm²
= 1 cm²
area of rectangle = l × b ( here , l = 6 cm - 1 cm = 5 cm )
= 5 × 3
= 15 cm²
area of whole figure = area of square + area of rectangle
= 1 cm² + 15 cm²
= 16 cm²
