$find \: height \: of \: the \: triangle \\ = 2 \times \frac{area}{base} \\ area \: of \: triangle = \frac{1}{2} \times 17 \times 8 \\ = 64 \\ height \: of \: triangle = 2 \times \frac{64}{8} \\ = 16cm$

area of trapezium = ½ (a+b)h

= ½ × (48+40) × 16

= ½ × 88 × 16

= 44 × 16 = 704

=704 cm²
