What is the asthenosphere?

Answer: the upper layer of the earth's mantle,below the lithosphere, in which there is relatively low resistance to plastic flow and convection is thought to occur.And it is highly vicious,mechanically weak and ductile region of the earth's mantle.It extends from about 100km to 700km.
