atmospheric refraction means when the light passes through various layers of atmosphere and its velocity changes frequently and its path also changes is called atmospheric refraction

1) twinkling of stars = when the light comes from stars it has to travel a long distance and cross various layers due to which it deflects and it appears to twinkle

2) advance sun rise and delayed sunset = when the sun is below the equater but it appears to be above the equater and when it is above the equater and appears to be below the equater this is called advance sun rise and delayed sunset.
