hi there
there is 1 atom of Ca and 2 atoms of O and H each so atomicity will be 1+2+2=5
atomicity- no of total atoms present in a molecule.
and here I have used molecule because every compound is molecule

The atomicity of Ca(OH)2 is 5.

  • Atomicity refers to the number of atoms present in a single molecule of an element, substance, or compound.
  • It can also be considered as the nature of molecules.
  • The sum of the mass of each element of the compound will give the molecular mass.
  • For example, oxygen or O2 is diatomic because it has 2 atoms in its molecule. Ozone or O3 is triatomic because it has 3 atoms in its molecule.
  • Depending upon atomicity, molecules can be monoatomic (He), diatomic(O2), triatomic(O3), and tetra atomic(P4).
  • In Ca(OH)2

1 atom of Ca

2 atoms of O

2 atoms of H

therefore atomicity = 5
