The atomicity of nitrogen dioxide is 3.

  • The atomicity of a species is defined as the number of atoms present in the species
  • For example, the atomicity of HCl is 2 as two atoms are present.
  • The formula of nitrogen dioxide is NO_2.
  • Here a total of three atoms are present one nitrogen and two oxygens.
  • Thus the atomicity of nitrogen dioxide is 3 as three atoms are present.
