The sensory detail was given in the story to indicate that the piano teacher is deaf and could not hear her music.

EXPLANATION:

Two kinds is a tale from the novel “The Joy luck club” written by Amy Tan. In that, the author discusses the struggles of the people of Asian American immigrants. This is the story of the mother Suvyan and daughter June. The mother wanted her daughter June to be a child prodigy and want her to be smart in all fields like studies, art, and music.

She made her read the states and capitals and ask her to work with a big number. The foremost wish was that she wants her to learn the piano and show her talent in the famous TV show. But June could not withstand the pressure and she failed to reach the target.

At last Suvyan enrolled her daughter with the piano teacher who is deaf. She somehow entered the contest of the show but embarrassed her mother because after she played the piano only her teacher clapped her hands.

In frustration, June said she will never fulfill her mother’s dream and also said she wishes that she could also have died along with her twins whom her mother abandoned in china. Her mother was shocked to hear this and she could not ask her daughter anything further. This was the greatest regret that June had when she was thirty.
