The basicity of acid is the number of H+ ions that can be produced on ionization of 1 molecule of the acid. Example : Basicity of HCl is 1. H2SO4 is 2. In case of oxalic acid (COOH)2, one molecule of the acid furnishes 2 H+ to the solution therefore its basicity is 2
