Sexual reproduction-
1) Sexual reproduction is the process in which two cells fuse with each other.
2) Rate of reproduction is slow and gradual .
3) Genetic variations are always produced by sexual reproduction.
4) Sexual reproduction occurs in higher organism.
5)Two parents belonging to two different sexes participate in sexual reproduction.
6) Both mitosis and meiosis take place at the time .
7) Chromosome number is reduced to half in sexual reproduction. Diploid (2n) condition is changed to haploid (n) by meiosis at the time of gamate formation.
8) The process of fertilization and zygote formation are important steps in sexual reproduction.

Asexual reproduction-
1) Asexual reproduction is the process in which only one cell divides into two.
2) Rate of reproduction is rapid .
3) Genetic variations are not produced by asexual reproduction.
4) Unicellular and lower organisms show asexual reproduction.e.g.yeast,protozoa.
5)Only one parent participates .
6) Only mitosis takes place at the time of asexual reproduction.
7) Chromosome number is kept constant in asexual reproduction. Diploid (2n) condition always remains the same.
8) The process of fertilization and formation of zygote do not take place in asexual reproduction.
