Packaging tissue is a tissue which helps in holding the tissues and organs in place. It is basically a loose connective tissue which attaches the epithelial tissue to the other underlying tissues.

Areolar tissue is one common type of packing tissue. It is a loose cellular connective tissue, whose matrix is made of white collagen fibers and yellow elastic fibers.

The Areolar tissue provides rapid diffusion of nutrients and oxygen from the blood vessels and also helps in fighting foreign toxins and antigens.

Even plasma is considered as a packing tissue which contains the blood tissue in it. Plasma is made up of 90% water and 10% substances like globulin, fibrinogen, prothrombin, plasma protein, and mineral salts. The water content of Plasma helps in the translocation of these substances in the body.
