what is the basic unit of kidney called? why isit composed of a cluster of very thin walled blood capilllaries?

Nephron is made up of very thin walled capillaries known as Glomerulus. They are the filtration units and are thin walled which prevents the blood cells and proteins to pass through and allow the waste to get filtered to form a filtrate known as glomerular filtrate.
