Answer:

Explanation:

THE BEDFORD CANAL EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED BY A SCIENTIST NAMED ALFRED RUSSEL WALLACE .  HE TOOK THREE POLES OR STICKS OF SAME HEIGHT AND PLACED THEM ON THE SURFACE OF A CANAL NAMED BEDFORD CANAL AT A DISTANCE OF 6 MILES . HE OBSERVED FROM A DISTANCE THROUGH A BINOCULARS THAT THE MIDDLE STICK  WAS 20 CM MORE HEIGHT THAN THE OTHER TWO . HE CONCLUDED THAT THE EARTH IS NOT FLAT AND IS A SPHERICAL BODY BULGED AT THE MIDDLE AND FLATTENED AT POLES  , WHICH WAS LATER CALLED OBLATE SPHEROID . THIS ALSO HELPED MEASURE CURVATURE OF THE EARTH'S SURFACE .
