the best way is to leran the periodic table by which u can make out the valencies of elements by which u can make chemical fornulas..for example
oxygen's valency=2
zinc's valency=3
So Zinc oxide=ZnO2
we interchange the valencies when making formulas

i m sorry..i forgot the valency of zinc..lol
zinc oxide is ZnO
because Zn have valency 2 and O has valency 2 so formula Zn2O2 but 2 is common so formula is ZnO
