The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir is the head of government of Jammu and Kashmir in northern India. Before 30 March 1965, when an amendment to the state's constitution came into effect, the office was known Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.[1] Subsequently, the ruling prime minister, Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq, was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
The office of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has been vacant since 20 June 2018. Until 19 December 2018 it was under Governor's rule, and was under President's rule till 30 October 2019 till it was bifurcated and converted into a union territory. Since 31 October 2019 it is under the Lieutenant Governor's rule.
