CAUSE OF CHEMICAL BOND
Atoms of elements other than noble gas have unstable electronic configuration ( their outermost shell is incomplete). They can lose, gain or share electrons and are chemically reactive. The driving force for atoms to combine is related to the tendency of each atom to attain stable electronic configuration of the nearest noble gas.

Exothermic reactions.and endothermic reactions cause chemical bonding of atoms of elements

There are several types of chemical bonding. Heat and catalysts are often needed to start the chemical bonding process. Some materials will readily combine, often giving off heat energy. They are called exothermic reactions.

Other combinations require extra energy to cause the molecules to bond. In those cases, the material is usually not very stable and a little heat or even vibration can cause the molecules to split apart, giving off energy. They are called endothermic reactions.
