heya mate here is your answer ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️✔✔✔✔

Residual Stresses. ... Welding is one of the most significant causes of residual stressesand typically produces large tensile stressesin the weld, balanced by lower compressiveresidual stresses elsewhere in the component. Tensile residual stresses may reduce the performance or cause failure of manufactured products.

Effect of residual stresses Decrease the fracture strength. Reduce buckling strength. Compressive residual stressincreases fatigue strength In hostile environment residual stress can causes cracking in matel without any applied load.

Hii dear!!

the residual stresses in the weld joints develop mainly due to typical nature welding process i.e localized heating and cooling. leading to differential volumetric expansion and contraction metal around the weld zone. The differential volumetric change occurs both at macroscopic and microscopic level.
