Plaque bacteria act on food partices that are stuck between our teeth and produce acid that causes softening of tooth enamel and decays tooth.

Explanation: Toothpaste contains chemical that are alkaline in nature. When we brush our teeth, toothpaste neutralizes the acid produced by plaque bacteria. If we brush our teeth regularly, no accumulation of acids occur so our teeth remain healthy.
