What is the cell theory? Who propunded it and when?

ROBERT HOOK, SCHWANN, SCHLEIDEN.

While examining thin slices of cork ,Robert Hook saw that the cork resembles the structure of a honeycomb . This was in the year 1665 , he made this chance into observation and named it as cell.
