energy = \frac{1}{2} mv^{2}

when velocity is doubled = ( 2v)

energy = \frac{1}{2} m(2v)^{2}

energy' = 4\frac{1}{2}mv^{2}

or

energy = 4 energy

hence energy is quadrupled,
