What is the charge on the anion in AlPO4?

The anion is the element that's oxidized(AN OX and RED CAT- the anion is oxidized, the reduced one is the cation).The oxidized one is the one that has lost electons (OIL RIG- oxidation is loss, reduction is loss), therefore giving it a more positive charge. Check your reference tables and Al has a +3 and PO4 has a -2. (I think, this is from memory.) So the anion is the aluminum and its charge is 3.
