What is the chemical equivalent weight of oxygen.. Explain your answer.

chemical equivalent of Oxygen = 8 gm..  this is by definition..

Equivalent weight of an element is that amount in gms that reacts with 1 gm of Hydrogen to form a compound.

Also in water, H2O,  16 gms of O reacts with 2 gms of H... hence, the equivalent weight = 16/2 * 1 = 8gm.
