What is the chemical name of dry ice?Why it is called dry ice?

Hi friend,
Dry ice , chamical name is carbon dioxide. it is solid form of C02.

Carbon dioxide gas turns to dry ice when temperature drops to - 110° F . when dry ice is warmed above -110°F , it changes from solid dry ice straight back to C02 gas. sinces it never passes through the liquid phase, it called dry ice.....i hope it helps you
