it's acidic as it contains methanoic acid

Zak11: But on the internet its saying that it is basic?
MridulAhi1234: 1. Wasp sting venom is alkaline and so its effects can be neutralised with vinegar or acid and this neutralisationthen reduces the pain.

2. Bee sting venom is acidic and so its effects can be neutralised with bicarbonate of soda or alkali and this reaction reduces the pain.

Answer:

It's a base.

Magnesium hydroxide - Mg(OH)2 is the base present in the wasp's sting. But not only magnesium hydroxide, but some wasps may have different bases like histamine (which is responsible for the inflammation at the site of bite) , dopamine, etc.

Each component of the sting has a different effect on the body.
