Indian is Democratic, multi-cultural and Secular Country. It has four important Pillars on which Democracy is running:

1) Executive (Government)

2) Legislature (Parliament & State Assemblies)

3) Judiciary (Supreme Court, High Court & Other Judicial centres)

4) Media (Newspaper, Internet, News Television)

Politics in India take place within the framework of its Constitution, because India is a federal parliamentary democratic republic, in which the President of India is the head of country and the Prime Minister of India is the head of the government. Indian Political System is quite vast and mostly divided in two parts: 1) State Government in which Chief Minister is the head of Government, 2) Central Government in which Prime Minister is the head of the Country.

Indian Political Parties are required to register themselves with election commission of India and are of two types:

National Level Party: The party wins 2% of seats in the Lok Sabha (as of 2014, 11 seats) from at least 3 different States. At a General Election to Lok Sabha or Legislative Assembly, the party polls 6% of votes in four States and in addition it wins 4 Lok Sabha seats. A party gets recognition as a State Party in four or more states.

State Level Party: Secure at least 6% of the valid vote & win at least 2 seats in an Assembly General Election, or Secure at least 6% of the valid vote & win at least 1 seats in a Lok Sabha General Election, or Win at least 3% of the seats or at least 3 seats , whichever is more, in an Assembly General Election, or Win at least 1 out of every 25 seats from a state in a Lok Sabha General Election, or Secure at least 8% of the total valid vote in an Assembly or a Lok Sabha General Election.
