what is the chracteristicthat magnetic, electrostatic and gravitational force have in common
Answers
All of Magnetic, Gravitational and Electrostatic Forces have in common that they are non-contact forces. Bodies don't have to be in contact for these forces to be working. All of them are forces of attraction.while ,magnetism can both be repelling and attracting.
Answer:
All the three are dependent on the distance the body feeling the force and the body exerting the force. If we increase the distance between them, the magnitude of force will decrease. Mathematically,
Gravitational force= (GMm) /r^2
Here G is the universal gravitational constant, M & m are the masses of the two bodies comprising the system. And r is the distance between the two bodies.
Electrostatic force= (Qq)/(4π€r^2)
Where Q and q are the charges comprising the system. €(epsilon, constant) is permittivity of free space and r is the distance between the two charges.
Magnetic force (case of force between two current carrying wires)
Here Uo is permeability of free space, I1 and I2 are current in wire 1 & wire 2 respectively ,L1 and l2 are their respective lengths and R is the distance between them.
In all the three systems, if the value of r increases, consequentially, the magnitude of force decreases. For instance if two masses are kept at a distance r, then the gravitational force between them is F. But as we increase the distance between them, F reduces to F-dF. Similarly, in a system of two charges, if the distance between the two charges is increased, the Electrostatic force will tend to decrease. Same applies for magnetic force. If two parallel current carrying wires are kept at a distance r then the force between them will be F. But if we increase the distance between them, it will reduce to F-dF.
Vice versa is also applicable. If we decrease the distance between them, then the forces will tend to increase. Same applies for other parameters like potential as it is also inversely related to the distance.
